Vijay makes his Instagram debut, gets over 500k+ followers within first hour

Thalapathy uploaded his first post on Instagram on Sunday afternoon, much to the surprise of fans.

 finally made his Instagram debut. The actor, who has been missing from the popular photo sharing application, made his first post on Sunday afternoon.

His fans didn’t waste a minute in following their idol for direct updates.

The Varisu actor’s first post was a picture of himself, smiling as he looked at something. He captioned the image as, “Hello Nanbas and Nanbis (Hello friends).”

The bio of the verified Instagram account reads, “Official Page handled by office of Actor Vijay.”

Soon after the actor uploaded his first post, fans were quick to welcome their hero. A user commented, “Welcome Thalapathy”, another fan wrote, “Ruler of cinema only Thalapathy Vijay.”

A few fans commented, “1 Million loading within few minutes,” implying that soon the number of followers will cross 1 million mark.

Within the first hour of Vijay’s first post, his account had already crossed 500K followers and over 634 K likes. Vijay is yet to follow anyone from his account.

Actors such as Rashmika Mandanna and Keerthy Suresh were amongst the first few artists to follow the actor on Instagram, quickly followed by more names.

The excitement amongst Vijay’s fans was such that on Twitter, the hashtag “Thalapathy On Instagram” started trending.

Vijay was last seen in the Tamil blockbuster Varisu alongside Rashmika Mandanna. He is currently wrapping up the production of his much awaited film Leo, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The film also stars actor Trisha Krishnan in the lead and makers recently welcomed actor Sanjay Dutt, who will be seen in the a negative role.

To welcome Sanjay on the sets of the film, the makers released a special video showing Sanjay arriving in Chennai and meeting Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The film, which has shot a large part of in Kashmir, is expected to be part of Lokesh’s multiverse, which will also have his earlier releases Vikram and Kaithi.
